Love Like Jesus

I have lived a life unconsciously aware of the color of my skin. I've had to be unconsciously aware of its impact on others.

In this life, I've had to consciously fold myself into Jesus. I've had to believe he saw me and my skin color and counted me as equal to all others - loving me as I am.

When I hear "Christians" speak racist rhetoric and champion cultural and structural separation, I consciously force myself to remember this is not true of Jesus who surrendered his life for his people and for the world.

Then, I must consciously force myself not to return racist rhetoric with my own racist frustration - making sure I don't give back what I get. This is not what following Christ includes. Instead, Christ-following is a division of those who do and those who don't believe in what Jesus did. We love both equally and demonstrate His love to each other equally to glorify God.

Love Like Jesus

Learning how to represent Jesus and love others is difficult when someone’s grievance with you is based on your ethnicity. They hate you not because they know you but because of your skin color.

Build on your desire to love like Jesus despite this foolishness by working on your foundations. Join me in my next workshop series, Foundations for Love. Register HERE.
